VIDEO: PhxSoul.com Riffs with International Jazz Artist Jermaine Lockhart
Soulful sax man Jermaine Lockhart recently sat down with PhxSoul.com multimedia journalist Jonathan Tease to discuss his highly successful, international jazz music career!
Lockhart performed LIVE with singer/songwriter Kim Weston at The Nash in Phoenix on July 23. The night featured jazz interpretations of hits from such icons as The Fugees, Babyface and Stevie Wonder as well as originals from Lockhart’s top-selling album “Back to the Sunshine” and Weston’s “Love is All We Ask.”
Lockhart talked about his “Back to the Sunshine” album which was executive produced by award-winning music icon and Valley resident George Benson. Lockhart considers Benson as his mentor. Legendary songwriter Preston Glass was also a producer on the Sunshine album.
Award-winning recording artist Ray Parker, Jr. also collaborated with Lockhart on the album. Parker is best known for colossal hits, “Ghostbusters,” “The Other Woman,” “A Woman Needs Love,” and “I Still Can’t Get Over Loving You.”
Interesting fact: Lockhart actually owns a farm outside of the Phoenix metropolitan area where he raises goats, chickens, ducks and other animals! The animals come up to him when he practices outside!
