Cesar Chavez Community Center Opens in Laveen

Cesar Chavez Community Center, 7858 S 35th Avenue, Laveen Village, hosted its grand opening on Thursday, March 30!

The 34,000 square foot center is a brand-new addition to Cesar Chavez Park complete with a new fitness center, basketball court, gaming room, multipurpose room, kitchen, sensory room, outdoor movie theater and more!

During the grand opening, visitors heard from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari, District 8 Councilmember Carlos Garcia, Parks and Recreation Board Chair Kelly Dalton and Andres Chavez, the grandson of American Labor and Civil Rights Activist Cesar Chavez.

The Parks and Recreation team also showcased a special art installation honoring Cesar Chavez sharing a timeline of his life and legacy.
